Our Privacy Promise

YAML Formatter is designed from the ground up with privacy as a core feature, not an afterthought. We believe that tools which process your data should be transparent about how that data is handled. Here is exactly how we handle your information.

Local Processing: Your Data Stays on Your Device

All YAML formatting, validation, and conversion operations are performed entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. When you paste YAML into the editor, click Format, or convert to JSON, the data never leaves your computer. You can verify this yourself: disconnect from the internet after loading the page, and the formatter will continue to work as normal.

We do not have servers that receive, process, or store your YAML content. There is no backend. There is no database. There is nowhere for your data to go even if we wanted to collect it.

No Cookies, No Trackers, No Analytics

This site does not use any cookies. We do not deploy any analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or third-party services that monitor your behavior. There are no advertising networks, no social media widgets, and no external content that could leak information about your visit.

No Data Collection

We do not collect, log, or store any of the following:

• The YAML content you paste or type into the editor
• The formatted or converted output
• Your IP address or browser fingerprint
• Your browsing history or navigation patterns
• Any form of personal identification information

Local History

To make repeat visits faster, your most recent formatting sessions may be kept in your browser's local storage. This data lives only on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

We do not integrate any third-party services, scripts, or libraries that could access your data. The page loads only the assets required for the formatter and editor to function. All JavaScript is served from our own domain.

Hosting & Infrastructure

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a static site hosting service. Cloudflare serves the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files to your browser. Since all processing is client-side, Cloudflare has no access to the YAML content you work with.

Open Source Transparency

This project is open source. You can inspect the complete source code on GitHub to verify exactly how data is handled. Every line of code that touches your YAML runs in your browser and is available for public audit.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how data is handled, this privacy policy will be updated with a clear explanation of what changed and why. Since we believe in transparency, significant changes will be highlighted at the top of this page.
